We were delighted when Sir Neil Cossons accepted our invitation to be our Patron.
Sir Neil’s distinguished career encompasses leadership of the Ironbridge Gorge Museum, the National Maritime Museum and the Science Museum, as well as being Chairman of English Heritage and making contributions to many advisory panels and academia. His early interest was inspired by his father, the historian Arthur Cossons.
County Representatives:In order to facilitate the collection of data on milestones and to raise local awareness on this aspect of our national heritage at the county level, a system of County Representatives has been set up by the Society. At present there are representatives for the following counties/areas (based mainly on the pre-1974 boundaries): Anglesey, Bedfordshire, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Caernarvonshire, Cambridgeshire, Cardiganshire, Carmarthenshire, Cheshire, Cornwall, Cumberland & Westmorland, Denbighshire, Devon, Dorset, Durham, Essex, Flintshire, Glamorgan, Greater London (Essex), Hampshire, Herefordshire, Hertfordshire, Huntingdon, Kent, Lancashire, Leicestershire, Merionethshire, Middlesex, Monmouthshire, Montgomeryshire, Norfolk, Northamptonshire, Northumberland, Nottinghamshire, Oxfordshire, Pembrokshire, Radnorshire, Shropshire, Somerset, Staffordshire, Surrey, Sussex, Warwickshire, Westmorland, Wiltshire, Worcestershire, Yorkshire.
If you do not have contact details for your own County Representative, or wish to contact a Representative of a County other than your own and also lack information, an address can be obtained by e-mail from John Atkinson..
Volunteers are welcome for those counties which are not yet represented.
